The DTRDA is a international dance therapy qualifications body and membership association for professional dance therapist. We define standards of examine performance for both professionals and non-professionals of all ages, develop the skills and professional practice of our members and promote the love of dance and Dance Therapy across a dynamic, global community.

We are an inclusive organisation that brings professionals and amateur together with new and enthusiastic talent to share in a deep love of movement and expression.

Purpose

The purposes of the Association are:

i. The study and approach of the method of dance therapy from different scientific and artistic disciplines for its development.

ii. The promotion of new perspectives and methods with the collaboration of professionals from different scientific and artistic disciplines for the alternative and correct treatment of physical, psychological, spiritual and social problems.

iii. The treatment of dance athletes through the prism of dance therapy with advice and methods from all scientists and artists who approach and study dance therapy.

iv. The promotion of the contribution of dance therapy to the public health of the country.

v. The active participation in the general social problems of the country by promoting dance therapy as a way of addressing them.

vi. The cultivation of communication and solidarity relations between the members of the Association.

vii. The creation of working groups per region of the countries with the aim of submitting comprehensive proposals for the scientific development of the members of the association and for the legal assertion of the rights of the members.

viii. The study, protection, support and promotion of the professional interests of the members and their professional identity.

ix. The delimitation and protection of the profession of dance therapist, by drafting and supervising the implementation of a code of ethics. Its duties and operation are defined by internal regulations.

x. Cultivating relations of communication and solidarity among the members of the Association

xi. The creation of working groups per region of the countries with the aim of submitting comprehensive proposals for the scientific development of the members of the association but also for the legal claim of the rights of the members.

xii. The representation of the members, when necessary, in consultation with competent bodies.

xiii. Promoting the requests and needs of members to society.

Means of realization of purposes

The Association seeks to achieve its goals by any lawful means and mainly:

i. By organizing communication lists, conventional and electronic, to facilitate communication among members.

ii. By organizing speeches and lectures.

iii. Organizing seminars.

iv. Collaborating with universities.

v. Organizing scientific meetings.

vi. Publishing an informative publication and/or electronic magazine and creating an electronic page.

vii. Organizing entertainment events.

viii. Taking the necessary actions to promote and defend the scientific and professional interests of the members.

ix. Conducting studies and taking whatever action is necessary to promote the scientific field.

x. Organizing the framework for the specialization of dancers and scientists from related fields in dance therapy with the assistance of scientists from different fields to approach the subject.

xi. Organizing the framework for the lifelong learning of dance therapists through research in the field with the aim of further developing and establishing the field.

Become a Dance Therapist

DTRDA professional dance therapy qualifications can be obtained through training with our Dance Therapist members. The DTRDA has developed dancetherapy teaching qualifications at three levels: First – Basic, Second – Intermediate and Third – Advanced.
